چکیده
Objective: To examine a wide range of parentand teacher-reported behaviors in relation to child-reported depression and anxiety in preadolescence. Method: Subjects were participants in a longitudinal study of 420 preschool children from the general population that started in 1989. At second follow-up 8 years later (ages 10–11 years), usable parent information was obtained for 358 children. For this study, 274 children for whom complete child, parent, and teacher reports were obtained at age 10 to 11 years were included. Measures included the Dimensions of Depression Profile for Children, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children, the Child Behavior Checklist/4–18, and the Teacher’s Report Form. Results: Of 120 parent-reported problem items, only 11 and 9 were associated with child-reported depression and anxiety, respectively. For teachers, 33 and 20 items (of 120) were significantly associated with child-reported depression and anxiety, respectively, including items referring to withdrawal, anxiety, depression, social problems, and academic problems. Conclusions: Teachers are more likely than parents to notice internalizing problems and related problems such as social and academic problems in children reporting depression or anxiety. J. Am. Acad. Factors Associated With Medication Errors Among Health Workers In University College Hospital, Nigeria
A descriptive survey which purposefully selected respondents from the registered nurses and pharmacists working in the study center. A total number of 274 nurses and 59 pharmacists participated in the study (n=333). Reliability coefficient was 0.6; Chi square and T-Test were applied to test hypotheses at α = 0.05 level of significance. All the respondents (n=333) indicated that exhaustion due t...
متن کاملMeasurement of hemostatic indexes in conjunction with transcranial doppler sonography in patients with ventricular assist devices.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Clinical thromboembolism (TE) remains an impediment to the chronic application of ventricular assist devices (VADs). Microembolic signals (MES) have been detected by transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) in patients with VADs, although their origin and relation to TE remain undefined. We have investigated the hypothesis that hemostatic alterations are related to MES and t...
متن کاملCaenorhabditis elegans MES-3 is a target of GLD-1 and functions epigenetically in germline development.
The maternal-effect sterile (MES) proteins are maternally supplied regulators of germline development in Caenorhabditis elegans. In the hermaphrodite progeny from mes mutant mothers, the germline dies during larval development. On the basis of the similarities of MES-2 and MES-6 to known transcriptional regulators and on the basis of the effects of mes mutations on transgene expression in the g...
متن کاملAn assessment of the vulnerability of carotid plaques: a comparative study between intraplaque neovascularization and plaque echogenicity
BACKGROUND Carotid plaque echolucency as detected by Color Doppler ultrasonography (CDUS) has been used as a potential marker of plaque vulnerability. However, contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) has recently been shown to be a valuable method to evaluate the vulnerability and neovascularization within carotid atherosclerotic plaques. The aim of this study was to compare CEUS and CDUS in the as...
متن کاملAccidental microembolic signals: prevalence and clinical relevance
Background: The purpose of this study was to examine the occurrence of accidental microembolic signals (MES) and its clinical relevance in patients receiving routine transcranial Doppler (TCD) examinations. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed our institutional TCD database (from January 2007–November 2012). The arteries with positive MES, the presumed sources of emboli and the clinical backgro...
